19 seasons. 14 organizations.

Josh Wilson, a Pittsburgh native, was selected by the Florida Marlins in the 3rd round of the 1999 MLB Draft out of Mount Lebanon High School. Prior to his professional career, he was a four-year varsity letterman for the Blue Devils and a key contributor to the 1998 PIAA State Championship team, alongside lifelong friend and current Pittsburgh Pirates manager Donnie Kelly. As a senior, he had the honor of representing his country as a member of USA Baseball’s Junior National Team, competing in the Pan-American Games in Caracas, Venezuela, where he helped secure a bronze medal. Josh earned First-Team All-American honors from the ABCA and Rawlings and was named Gatorade’s Pennsylvania State and Mid-Atlantic Region Player of the Year for the 1999 season.

Josh made his Major League debut with the Florida Marlins in 2005. Over the next decade, he traveled throughout the country spending time in the Major Leagues with the Washington Nationals, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Arizona Diamondbacks, San Diego Padres, Seattle Mariners, Milwaukee Brewers, Texas Rangers, and Detroit Tigers. His reliability as a versatile infield defender and reputation as a quality teammate afforded him continued opportunities to play at the game’s highest level and for some of the most respected managers in the game, including Jack McKeon, Joe Maddon, Bob Melvin, A.J. Hinch, and Kirk Gibson.

After retiring from playing, Josh spent the 2018 season as an occasional analyst on the Pittsburgh Pirates Pre- and Post-Game shows, cherishing the opportunity to discuss Bucco baseball alongside the legendary Stan Savran. Later that year, he was named to the Detroit Tiger’s scouting staff, where he spent six seasons as an MLB scout. The experience broadened Josh’s perspective on the game while deepening his understanding of analytics, technology, and player evaluation.

Josh’s dedication and passion for the game make him an inspiring presence both on and off the field. He credits his success in baseball to his father, Mike Wilson, who served as the Head Baseball Coach at Duquesne University for 17 years. Growing up immersed in the game, Josh developed a strong foundation in fundamentals and a deep appreciation for the mental toughness required to excel at the highest levels.  Now, driven by the same dedication that defined his playing career, he is committed to helping young athletes reach their full potential while fostering a love for the game.
